St Ives is in west Cornwall, less than 20 miles from Lands End. Situated on the rugged north coast, this beautiful old fishing port is steeped in fascinating history, mixed with legends and myths. Culturally rich, St Ives is recognised around the world as a vibrant art colony and is home to many artists and musicians, with galleries, regular festivals and an eclectic music scene.
St Ives has miles of golden sand, with coves and beaches pointing in all compass directions. This means there is always an amazing choice of safe swimming, surfing, body-bording or playing in the sand, sheltered from sea breezes in the sunshine. With the benefit of the warmth of the Gulf Stream, the town also enjoys a mild sub-tropical climate during the summer months.
For more than 600 years this a delightful seaside town 
flourished on rich fishing grounds and mining for tin, supplemented with agriculture. Now the local economy benefits from all year-round tourism and art. The narrow, cobbled streets now offer a wide variety of shops, high class restaurants, cafes and bars.
St Ives has a thriving art scene which includes the Tate Gallery, Penwith Gallery, Barbara Hepworth Museum and many other smaller galleries.
You don’t have to walk far from the main town to experience the magnificent scenery along the Cornish cost-line, with breath-taking views across the undulating countryside, spectacular granite cliff faces and beyond to the Atlantic.
